Learn To Skate & Learn To Play Programs

Join our LEARN TO SKATE Program!

Are you ready to expose your young player to the world of Hockey? Fierce's Learn to Skate Program is a perfect place to start. Our LEARN TO SKATE Program is all about getting new skaters exposed to hockey, their equipment, the rink, and having fun!

Program Highlights:

  • Skilled and Fun Instructors
  • Safe and Supportive Environment for Beginner Skaters
  • Flexible Class Schedules

REQUIRED equipment for the class: CSA approved helmet with a cage, single blade hockey skates, mitts or hockey gloves to protect their hands. We recommend having players wear snow/ski/hockey pants, warm jacket that allows for movement.

*Parents & Caregivers of players: Fierce encourages parents & caregivers remain at the rink, but out of sight while their player is first on the ice. This allows the player to learn to skate independently, and to help build their confidence on the ice. You may re-join your player once they are happy on the ice. Our instructors are there to support them every step of the way!

What to Expect in Our LEARN to SKATE Class:

  • For new skaters - U3, U4, U5, U6, U7
  • Balance & walking on the ice whike using a skating aid
  • Safely falling down and getting up on their own
  • Transition to removal of skating aid
  • One foot balance, shuffle steps, spins, and shaving the ice
  • T-push, pushing friends on chairs, 2 foot glides, 1 foot glides, turning & C-cuts
  • A lot of FUN & GAMES mixed with skill development!

Once our students have gotten the hang of things they can move into our LEARN TO PLAY class at the same time and on the same ice as our LEARN TO SKATE class.
